Meet YPC Member Theodora Ferrant

What is your occupation?
Just started working as Awards Writer at Klick, Inc. at the beginning of September, but my occupation is passing judgment on things I cannot create and writing without desire for publication.

What was the last book you read?
The Art of the Impossible: Politics as Morality in Practice. A collection of the speeches and essays written by Václav Havel.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Lascia ch'io pianga from Handel's Rinaldo. It is not my favourite song but I have found myself listening to it on repeat for hours and have yet to tire of it. In fact it has been a welcome ear-worm for about a week now.

Where is your favourite place in the world?
At the moment I have yet to visit it but am excited by the prospect of that favourite place...And in the end I am sure it will be home.

Why did you join YPC?
I love the ROM and have gradually been getting sucked, very willingly, into a deeper relationship with the ROM. The ROM has given me so much joy and knowledge, it was my turn to give something and even at the same instance, my giving to the ROM has provided such wonderful returns with the sneak peaks and special experiences.

What do you like best about being a Young Patron of the ROM?
Meeting so many ROM-philes, from fellow patrons to the museum personnel who are all such founts of great knowledge and love for their craft.

Describe the ROM in one word.
Romp. A lovely romp through all things of matter and all things that matter.

Tell us one of your favourite ROM memories.
Taking an older friend and her very respectable globe-trotting husband to Friday Night Live and seeing him losing it with child-like glee and wonder at the various rock formations and fossils throughout the Museum. He was like an excited 12 year old beckoning me to come see this, no look at that! I'm sure the Peroni helped to break down his typically somber demeanour.

What do you love most about the ROM?
I love taking friends on personal tours of my favourite discoveries and the never ending treasure hunt. Seeing what my friends find most fascinating provides me with fun insight into their character.

If you could have anything from the ROM’s collections, what would you choose?
The Striding Lion from Nebuchadnezzar's throne room. It is beautiful and I would love to gaze at it on my own wall... though I would certainly not mount it in my throne room.
